Q1: Is there an optional remote control available for this camera?
A1: According to Fujifilm, there is no remote shutter for the SL1000.

Q2: Tell me a little about this camera's panoramic scene mode?
A2: The motion panorama mode of this camera is a total blast! You can select the angle of the panorama (120,180 or 360 degrees) and the direction (left to right, right to left, up to down, down to up). Once you press the shutter button, the camera starts to shoot the panorama just by sweeping it in the chosen direction, while there is an onscreen guide line to help you with the whole process (so as to keep the camera level and not to move too fast or too slow). That's it, the panorama is ready, with none whatsoever stitch marks and no need for additional editing software.

Q3: Has anyone done any "black & white" photography with this camera?
A3: Personally, I find it very easy to use the SR Auto setting on camera for B/W shots. What you do is get into the menu--move down to the FINEPIX COLOR choice--the click to move into the settings, which is hitting the "wheel" to the right and move down one setting from STANDARD and choose B/W. That works very well because once you have selected the B/W setting you can move to other modes in the camera and it stays at the B/W setting.

Q4: Is there a setting that turns the "optical image stabilization" on? I can't keep the camera from moving when using the telephoto.
A4: In the Settings Menu (the one with the wrench picture on the left tab), look for IS MODE. Turn it on and zoom all the way in. Then turn it off, and you can tell the difference.

Q5: How does this camera perform in Low Light?
A5: Pretty well, and the flash is great. I love this camera. Great price and great zoom.

Q6: What is the best Fish eye lens for this camera, and is it compatible with other brands of lens?
A6: As far as I know, this camera does not have interchangeable lenses. It's a fancy point and shoot with some special mode features, but I don't think fisheye is one of them.

Q7: On Auto mode... is there a few second delay after shutter is pressed before you can take next picture? Like it takes a long time for camera to process the picture. I just got one, not sure if it is normal. Never had that before.Thanks
A7: Check your menu. I believe you can set the time duration for the photo to be displayed after taking the shot. Go into the SET UP MENU. You can set it for 3 secs, 1.5, or OFF. If it is ON for whatever time you select, and you are shooting large picture files, like 16 megapixels or have large formats set, it will take the camera longer to assimilate the photo....and the pict will be displayed longer, or time to next shot will be extended. Try shooting smaller file/megapixel size. Get to know the MENU. It is a drink from a fire hose....but has a wealth of info.

Q8: What kind of batteries does it use?
A8: The camera does not use standard AA or AAA batteries. It uses an NP-85 3.7V battery that lasts about 2 hours and takes about 4 hours to recharge. I bought an extra lithium battery and haven't had a problem with not having enough power. The battery level indicator in the camera will alert you when the battery is getting low so you can get by with one battery if you want.

Q9: Will pictures or videos taken in the panorama mode display full screen on a 16x9 HDTV without black bars above and below the picture?
A9: I am sorry, but it can't fit. In Panorama, the view is more than 16x9.

Q10: Has anybody compared this to the HS50? I am looking at both and am currently undecided as which way to go. thanks.
A10: HS50EXR compared to the SL1000? HS50EXR has a 42 optical zoom while the SL1000 has a 50 Optical zoom. The sensor in the HS50EXR is much better than the SL1000, the HS50 will take a better photo. The zoom in the HS50 is manual while the zoom in the SL1000 is electronic. HS50 has an LCD that swings out, while the SL1000 only tilts. My Opinion, the HS50EXR is well worth the extra money!

Overall, this camera is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a simple-to-use camera that yields excellent results. Its best features include a hot shoe, an adjustable diopter (for folks who find it awkward to wear glasses while looking through a viewfinder), an adjustable screen for up and down (but not sideways) viewing, dual zoom controls, and a neat assortment of special effects, all packed into a solid, lightweight, compact camera.
