FAQ:
Q: Are these noise-canceling enough to wear on a plane and not hear the plane noise?
A: They do NOT have electronic noise canceling. They are over the ear. The cups absorb outside sound but not enough that would be considered "noise cancelling". They're mainly for DJ's, home, and professional studio producers who use them because electronic "Noise Cancelling" tech interferes with recordings.
Q: Are these good for big heads? I have trouble finding headphones that fit comfortably over my big head. Also, I wear glasses if that helps.
A: They grip my average size head fairly firmly. Not enough to hurt but a big head may have problems. I was able to bend mine a bit to lighten the grip.
Q: How does this compare to the ATH-M30? And how comfortable is it for extended hours of use?
A: I can only respond to the 2nd part of your question as I have not tried the ATH-M30, but the ATH M20X was (for me) extremely uncomfortable even after using for only a short period of time. This was due to the, IMO, excessive heat build-up which literally caused pools of sweat to collect inside the earpieces. I returned the headset after a few days.
Q: Do these headphones come with a carrying case?
A: No, they don't come, but I suggest buying a case just in case. If you don't want to, buy it without a case, those are durable headphones, but you never know if you'll need the case to carry them in a bag, backpack, carry on.
Q: Is the headband metal or plastic? If plastic, is the build sturdy or cheap-feeling?
A: It is plastic. Seems pretty sturdy, though, especially for the price.
Q: Is there a leakage of sound from the headphones to the outside? I want to use it to monitor my sound during recording. Is it good for that?
A: I'm not sure but if I put the headphones down without turning off the volume from the source, I can certainly hear the sound. I've never asked someone in the room with me whether there is sound leakage. Personally, these headphones are nothing special and certainly not professional. I can't recommend them mainly because of the way they pinch and hurt my ears.
Q: Do they bleed a lot of sound?
A: I'm not sure what you're trying to ask, but if you are referring to channel bleed that's produced by the amplifier. If you are asking can the closed cup be heard: they are actually quite good at maintaining a sound within the closed cup.
Q: Can you use these with an iPod?
A: Yes, ATH-M20x is practicable in iPod.
Q: Are these too big? I have a really small head (actually wear kid's helmet), would you recommend these for me?
A: Yes, they can perfectly fit with the headset slider.
Q: Hi, I'm new to Amazon and I have a question. Do you ship these to New Zealand and what would it cost? Thanks.
A: I'm sure they could be shipped there and shipping shouldn't be too bad.
