Review:
The Fostex RP Diaphragm Stereo Headphones (T60RP) are a great choice for audiophiles who value high-quality sound and comfort. The RP diaphragm made of polyimide film with copper foil etching and neodymium magnet delivers superior transient characteristics and high input tolerance, resulting in wide frequency reproduction. The wooden housing made of African Mahogany also adds depth to the fine sound of the RP diaphragm. The detachable connector offers both unbalanced and balanced connections for recent balanced-connection-ready DAPs, while the headphone amps realize clear audio reproduction with noise-free, high separation. The genuine leather head pad and around-the-ear type ear pads offer a great fit and fatigue-free long time use. The headphones come with a 4-foot (1.2 meter) cable and a carrying bag.
Pros:
- High-quality sound
- Comfortable fit
- Detachable connector offers both unbalanced and balanced connections
- Wooden housing adds depth to the sound
Cons:

Overall:
The Fostex RP Diaphragm Stereo Headphones (T60RP) are a great choice for audiophiles who value high-quality sound and comfort. While they are expensive and not wireless, their superior sound quality and comfortable fit make them a worthwhile investment for those who prioritize audio performance. FAQ:
Q1. What cable and where can I get one to run this to a MOTU M2 balanced? 3.5mm balances to 1/4 TRS balanced?
A1. The MOTU M2 does not have a balanced connection, so you can't run balanced headphones on it.
Q2. Possible to check when will it be available?
A2. Please check with the manufacturer.
Q3. Are the pads removable? If so, how do you remove them? They don't seem to come off easily, so I want to make sure.
A3. Yes, the pads are removable, and you just peel them off by gently tilting one corner outward until it begins to let go, then easing it off. They have a thin leather lip that sits inside a groove. It does take a little finesse to get the new pads on, but if you take your time, it's not very difficult.
Q4. Has anyone tried a 3.5mm unbalanced cable with the T60RP?
A4. Yes, it comes with a 3.5mm balanced (connected to headphone) to 3.5mm unbalanced (connected to source).
Q5. Is the bass comparable to either a Beyerdynamic DT 880 or 990?
A5. The bass is very good, deep and more importantly clean allowing you to hear the texture of your bass, the Beyerdynamic I have is not most expensive.
Q6. What is the frequency range? Impedance? Sensitivity? Can the cable be swapped out for a 15-foot cable? Thanks.
A6. Please read the listing or Google it for specs. Yes, the cable is replaceable.
Q7. Are the earpads genuine leather or artificial leather (pleather)? The description isn't 100% clear on this.
A7. The earpads are made from artificial leather and the interior is made of urethane.
Q8. What is the frequency range? Impedance? Sensitivity? Can the cable be removed and swapped out for a 16-foot cable? Thank you.
A8. The T60RP is a refined and updated version of the T50RP. The phones are very fast and accurate as they are planar drivers. The cup design is slightly open and vented so I would not recommend them for portable use or recording scenarios when you need isolation. This latest version is more efficient and you can use them with a portable device; however, if you want to crank them you will need an amplifier. The cable can be removed; however, note that on the phones end, they are balanced so it is a 4 pole plug, I believe.
Q9. The offer states "free return within 30 days if unused." What happens if I open the box and find them uncomfortable?
A9. If purchased through Amazon, you would likely be able to return them. However, these headphones are very comfortable and use leather pads, so discomfort is unlikely.
