A: The thermostat will still work, but remote access will be lost until it is reconnected to the internet.

A: Not that we are aware of. The unit can be easily logged into and displays inside and outside temperature and A/C activity. The phone can be used to log in and set inside temperature, heat, and A/C. There is good phone support for questions on a renewed unit. This thermostat works with a heat pump unit.
