Getting Started

1. Unpack your SAMCOM two-way radio and ensure that all the items listed in the package contents are present.
2. Attach the long antenna to the radio by screwing it onto the antenna connector located on top of the radio.
3. Install the 1500mAh battery by sliding it into the back of the radio until it clicks into place.
4. Connect the dock charger to a power outlet and place the radio into the dock, ensuring that the charging contacts on the radio align with the contacts on the dock. Charge the radio until the battery is fully charged (approximately 5 hours).
5. Turn on the radio by rotating the power/volume knob located on the top of the radio.
6. Select a channel by rotating the channel knob located on the top of the radio.
7. Adjust the volume as needed by rotating the power/volume knob.
8. Attach the belt clip to the back of the radio if desired.
9. Connect the K-Type earpiece to the accessory jack on the side of the radio if desired.

Basic Operation

1. Press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button on the side of the radio to transmit your voice. Release the button to listen for incoming transmissions.
2. Use the left side PTT button for "direct calls" to the same channel members.
3. Use the GROUP PTT button to talk to other people simultaneously, even if they are not on the same channel.
4. Activate the backlit LCD display by pressing any button (except the PTT button) on the radio.
5. Adjust the volume by rotating the power/volume knob.

Advanced Features

1. Add private CDCSS codes to channels to prevent interference from irrelevant signals.
2. Switch between high and low power modes to optimize battery life and communication range.
3. Program the radio to be compatible with other brands' radios using the provided software (PC only, not compatible with Mac).

A: According to the dealer Sancom/Samcom, they are preprogrammed with the Sancom/Samcom channels used in their wireless intercom systems. From other users and reviewers, I have learned that these are in the FRS channels (462 and 467 MHz). From the FCC, I have learned that these radios are Part 90 approved business radios. They cannot be used legally to transmit on the FRS channels as that requires specific FCC approval (and a fixed antenna). If you intend to use these radios for business purposes, you must have an appropriate business license for specific frequency(ies) that this radio can transmit. If you get caught using them illegally, it can result in hefty fines.
